In this lesson you'll study the main characteristics of two special types of rational functions: the ones formed by the quotient of a first degree polynomial by a second degree polynomial (in that order), and the ones formed by the quotient of a second degree polynomial by a first degree polynomial. Additionally, you'll be able to find slant asymptotes.
Lesson objectives
- Students will learn how to sketch rational functions composed of the quotient between a first degree polynomial by a second degree polynomial (the opposite as well)
- Students will be able to calculate slant asymptotes through polynomial division (long division or synthetic division) and plot slant asymptotes
