Exclusive to AA HL, this content extends the trigonometry covered at SL into more advanced territory. Students are introduced to the reciprocal trigonometric functions — secant, cosecant and cotangent — along with the associated Pythagorean identities, and the inverse trigonometric functions arcsin, arccos and arctan are defined with their domains, ranges and graphs. Compound and double angle identities are developed and applied, including the double angle identity for tangent, and students explore the symmetry properties and relationships between trigonometric functions across different quadrants.
