Exclusive to AI HL, geometric transformations are represented and applied using matrix multiplication. Students perform reflections, stretches, enlargements, translations and rotations on points in two dimensions, and combine these as composite transformations. The geometric interpretation of the determinant as a scale factor for area is developed, and iterative matrix techniques for generating fractals are introduced, reflecting the broader AI emphasis on technology and real-world structural applications.
